Abdoulaye Doucoure has admitted that his future at the club remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire this summer.
The 32-year-old has been a key player for Everton since joining five years ago, but he is one of 13 players whose deals run out at the end of the season.
Doucoure, who has an option in his contract for a one-year extension, revealed that no discussions have taken place regarding his future.
Speaking to The Times, the Mali international expressed his gratitude for his time at the club but acknowledged that he could leave soon.
“It’s a difficult situation, to be honest. I never lie when I talk about my future. Obviously, I’ve had a great time here. I don’t know what’s going to come next. I’m a free agent now, so I have some possibilities,” he said.
He added, “I will always cherish my time here, and I will be very happy for what I did for Everton. Even if I leave, inside my heart I will always be a Blue.”
Everton manager David Moyes faces tough decisions at the end of the campaign, with several first-team players, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jesper Lindstrøm, Jack Harrison, and Michael Keane, also at risk of departing.
