AFRICAN STARS SHINE IN EUROPE: DROGBA, ETO’O, SAKHO AND BONY ON TARGET
It was another standout weekend for African internationals across Europe, with both seasoned veterans and emerging talents making headlines.
Premier League – Matchday 9
Diafra Sakho is quickly becoming one of the Premier League’s revelations. The Senegalese striker continued his incredible form, scoring in West Ham’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City, making it six goals in six starts in his debut season in England. His clinical finishing has played a crucial role in the Hammers’ strong start.
At Swansea, Wilfried Bony has rediscovered his scoring touch. The Ivorian forward netted twice to lead the Welsh club to a 2-0 win over Leicester City, reaffirming his status as one of the Premier League’s top strikers.
Meanwhile, Samuel Eto’o, now at Everton, showed he still has plenty to offer. The 33-year-old Cameroonian rolled back the years with a brace, including a powerful header and a curling right-foot strike, in a 3-1 win over Burnley. His experience continues to be invaluable for the Toffees.
Also making waves was Didier Drogba, who scored in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United (covered previously), proving at 36 that class truly is permanent.
A Generational Blend
This weekend once again underlined the depth and breadth of African talent in Europe. With legends like Drogba and Eto’o still delivering and young guns like Sakho, Mané, and Bony stepping up, African footballers continue to leave their mark across top leagues.
