Europa League: Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane scores to lead Lille to beat SK Brann 2-1
Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane was on target for Lille on Thursday night, leading the team to a 2-1 victory against SK Brann in their opening match in this season’s Europa League.
In the game played in France, the forward started for his team and put up a very good performance.
Igamane broke the deadlock in the 54th minute after latching onto a precise through ball from Mathias Fernandez-Pardo. The Moroccan kept his composure inside the box and fired into the middle of the net to give Lille a deserved lead.
Just six minutes later, Brann hit back through Saevar Magnusson, who finished smartly off a pass from Noah Holm to level the score.
With the game finely poised, Lille turned to their experience. In the 80th minute, Olivier Giroud rose highest to meet a cross from Tiago Santos, heading home decisively to seal the 2-1 victory.
The result gives Lille a strong start to their Europa League campaign, with Igamane’s display a major positive for the French side moving forward.
