Europa League: Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka scores to inspire AS Roma to beat OGC Nice 2-1
Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka scored an important goal for AS Roma on Wednesday night, leading the team to a 2-1 win against OGC Nice in the Europa League.
In the game played at Allianz Riviera, both teams put up a top performance in the first half, but neither side could get on the scoresheet.
After a goalless first half, Ndicka broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute. Captain Lorenzo Pellegrini delivered a pinpoint corner, and the towering defender rose above everyone to power a header into the left side of the net, giving Roma the lead.
Just three minutes later, Roma doubled their advantage. Gianluca Mancini found space inside the box to meet a precise cross, slotting home with confidence to make it 2-0.
Nice pulled one back in the 77th minute when Nigerian striker Terem Moffi converted from the penalty spot with a composed finish into the bottom right corner.
Despite the late pressure, Roma held firm to secure all three points.
