Europa League: Ghana’s Edmund Baidoo scores early goal as Red Bull Salzburg fall 3-2 to Ferencvaros

Ghanaian forward Edmund Baidoo was on the scoresheet for Red Bull Salzburg in their 3-2 defeat to Ferencvaros in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening.

Baidoo, 19, started in attack and made an immediate impact, opening the scoring in the 13th minute with a precise low strike into the bottom right corner after creating space on the edge of the box.

He put in a lively performance before being substituted in the 75th minute.

Despite Salzburg’s strong start, Ferencvaros staged a spirited comeback in the second half. Barnabas Varga levelled the score five minutes after the restart, before Kristoffer Zachariassen headed the hosts into the lead in the 56th minute.

Moments later, Dele extended the advantage to 3-1, with Zachariassen providing the assist.

Yorbe Vertessen pulled one back for Salzburg in the 82nd minute to make it 3-2, but the Austrian side could not find the equaliser before full-time.

Edmund Baidoo and his teammates will now shift their focus to their next Europa League fixture against Go Ahead Eagles on November 6.
