The return of Emmanuel Adebayor to the Spurs group is welcomed news for coach André Villas-Boas, especially with an eye on potential qualification for the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Adebayor had been sidelined due to a knee injury sustained in the London derby against Arsenal (2-1). His absence was notable in Tottenham’s victory over Inter Milan (3-0) and their subsequent defeat against Liverpool in the Premier League (3-2).
Villas-Boas expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We have recovered Adebayor, who is retained in the group against Inter Milan. And we are also happy with the return of Lennon.”
In addition to Adebayor, Tottenham could benefit from the returns of Clint Dempsey and Aaron Lennon from injury. The Spurs’ lineup for the upcoming match includes:
Starting XI: Friedel, Walker, Gallas, Vertonghen, Naughton, Dembele, Parker, Livermore, Sigurdsson, Defoe, and Adebayor.
Substitutes: Lloris, Caulker, Huddlestone, Assou-Ekotto, Carroll, Holtby, and Lennon.
The strengthened squad enhances Tottenham’s prospects in the Europa League.
