Moroccan youngster Abde Ezzalzouli put up a fine display on Thursday night to help Real Betis defeat Olympique Lyon 2-0 in the Europa League.

The forward started the Round 4 fixture of the league phase of the competition and had a big impact.

The 23-year-old starred with the opening goal, inspiring the Spanish outfit to see off the French opposition at the end of the 90 minutes.

Ezzalzouli broke the deadlock in the 30th minute after being set up by Cedric Bakambu, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom left corner to give the hosts a deserved lead.

Just five minutes later, Betis doubled their advantage when Antony cleverly chipped goalkeeper Dominik Greif after receiving a fine pass from Marc Roca, sealing the result before halftime.

With the win, Real Betis have moved to 9th in the Europa League standings. The top performance from Abde Ezzalzouli will not go unnoticed by Morocco head coach Walid Regragui, who is putting together his squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
