Ethiopia will host Egypt in Morocco for their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier, as the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) has confirmed that the match will take place in Casablanca on March 17.
The fixture, part of the fifth round of Africa’s World Cup qualifying campaign, sees Ethiopia forced to play away from home due to stadium requirements set by FIFA and CAF.
The Ethiopian Football Federation has secured approval from the Moroccan football authorities to use Al-Arabi Al-Zawali Stadium in Casablanca as their temporary home venue.
Speaking to The African Football, EFF General Secretary Bahiro Tilahun explained the decision: We will play our World Cup qualifier against Egypt in Morocco.
The match will be held at Al-Arabi Al-Zawali Stadium in Casablanca.
Ethiopia, aiming to make their mark in Group A, will face a challenging task against Egypt, one of Africa’s most successful national teams.
The Pharaohs, led by a squad packed with international experience, are strong contenders to secure a spot in the next round of qualification.
Despite the venue change, Ethiopia will be determined to put up a strong fight as they seek a positive result in their campaign for a historic World Cup berth.
