Ethan Nwaneri has arrived in Marseille ahead of completing his transfer to Olympique Marseille, signalling a significant step in the young midfielder’s budding career.
Upon landing, Nwaneri expressed his excitement about joining the French club, highlighting the influence of former Arsenal teammate William Saliba, who played for Marseille before returning to the Premier League.
“William Saliba told me OM is one of the best clubs in the world,” Nwaneri said, reflecting the high regard in which the club is held by players familiar with its environment.
The teenager also praised Marseille’s head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, adding: “Roberto De Zerbi is also one of the best coaches in the world.” Nwaneri’s remarks underline his confidence in both the club and the managerial project awaiting him in France.
The transfer represents more than just a move for Nwaneri; it reflects Marseille’s strategic focus on developing young talent. De Zerbi, recognised for his attacking style and commitment to youth integration, is expected to provide the ideal environment for Nwaneri to grow and adapt to top-level football.
Observers suggest the move could accelerate the midfielder’s progression while strengthening Marseille’s squad depth in central midfield.
