Ethan Nwaneri: Arsenal and England youngster linked with RB Leipzig move

Ethan Nwaneri, the England‐eligible Arsenal attacking midfielder also qualified for Nigeria, is being linked with a summer move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old, who is under contract at Emirates Stadium until June 2030, is understood to be on the German club’s radar as they assess attacking options for the new season.

Any deal for Nwaneri would require a substantial outlay, with the teenager currently valued at around €35m. Leipzig have a recent track record of investing in young players with first-team experience, and Nwaneri’s exposure to top-level football at a young age has attracted attention across Europe.

Nwaneri made the step up from Arsenal’s youth ranks to the senior squad in 2024 and has since accumulated 34 Premier League appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists. He also gained Champions League experience last term, featuring 10 times and scoring twice, underlining his ability to contribute in high-intensity fixtures.

Arsenal briefly allowed Nwaneri to leave on loan in January 2026, when he joined Marseille for the second half of the 2025-26 campaign. The move, which included a fee of €1.5m, gave him further top-flight exposure in Ligue 1 before he returned to north London at the end of June.

The London-born left-footer, who wears the No 22 shirt for Arsenal, has progressed through the club’s system from youth level to the first team. With four years remaining on his contract, Arsenal are under no pressure to sell, and Leipzig would likely need to structure a significant offer to test the Premier League club’s resolve.
