Arsenal attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, the England youth international also eligible for Nigeria, is being linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund as the Bundesliga club assess options to strengthen their creative department.

Dortmund are understood to be monitoring the 19-year-old’s situation at the Premier League side, with the German club long known for targeting highly rated young players from across Europe. Any approach is likely to be complicated by Nwaneri’s current contract at Arsenal, which runs until 30 June 2030, placing the north London club in a strong negotiating position.

Nwaneri is currently valued in the region of €35 million, a figure that provides an early indication of the level of financial commitment Dortmund might require if they decide to formalise their interest. While there has been no suggestion of advanced talks, the player’s age profile and position have made him an attractive candidate as Dortmund plan for the medium term.

The attacking midfielder has been part of Arsenal’s first‐team set-up, with his progress closely tracked by clubs on the continent. Dortmund’s interest fits a broader Bundesliga trend of recruiting young Premier League-based talent before their value rises further.

Arsenal, for their part, are under no immediate pressure to sell given the length of Nwaneri’s deal, and any decision over his future is expected to hinge on the role he is offered in Mikel Arteta’s squad over the coming seasons. For now, Nwaneri remains contracted to Arsenal until 2030, with Dortmund among the leading clubs considering whether to test that resolve.
