Esperance drops Nigeria midfielder Onuochi Ogbello from squad over REFUSAL to extend contract
Tunisian club Esperance has removed Nigerian midfielder Onuochi Ogbello from its squad list following an undisclosed disciplinary measure.
Reports from the Tunisian newspaper Al-Shorouk suggest that Ogbello recently went missing after signing a preliminary deal with Libyan side Al-Ittihad.
The publication cited his refusal to extend his contract with Esperance as a key factor in the club’s decision.
Esperance has moved swiftly to fill the gap, turning to Moez Haj Ali, who has impressed in training and is expected to step into Ogbello’s role.
The club plans to prepare Haj Ali thoroughly ahead of their upcoming CAF Champions League quarter-final clash with Al Ahly.
The first leg of the tie will take place in Rades, with the return leg scheduled for Cairo Stadium. The matches are set for March 13–15 and March 20–22, respectively.
This development adds a fresh dynamic to Esperance’s campaign as they gear up to face the Egyptian giants in the continental showdown.
