Fantamady Diarra on José Anigo’s Radar at Espérance de Tunis
Malian striker Fantamady Diarra could be on the move this summer, with Espérance de Tunis emerging as a strong contender for his signature. The 23-year-old forward, currently tied to AJ Auxerre in France’s Ligue 2, has reportedly attracted the interest of José Anigo, the newly appointed manager of the Tunisian giants.
According to Shems FM, Anigo is keen to bring Diarra to Tunisia as a replacement for Yannick Ndjeng, the Cameroonian striker who suffered a serious knee injury last month. Espérance are looking to reinforce their attacking line-up ahead of a busy season that includes domestic and continental competitions.
Diarra, who featured in 35 matches and scored five goals for Auxerre in the 2014–2015 Ligue 2 season, is also being tracked by newly promoted SCO Angers. However, Auxerre are reportedly reluctant to let their forward go. The club has even offered him a contract extension, underlining their desire to keep the former Stade Rennais youth player in their squad.
While the player’s next destination remains uncertain, the interest from Espérance de Tunis signals the ambition of the Tunisian side to strengthen their squad under Anigo’s leadership — and Diarra could be a key part of that vision.
