Esapa Osong: England-Cameroon striker joins Inverness CT on free transfer

England and Cameroon forward Esapa Osong has joined Inverness CT as a free agent, completing his move to the Scottish Championship club on 17 September.

The 21-year-old centre-forward has signed a contract with Inverness running until 30 June 2027. He arrives after spending more than two months without a club following his departure from Nottingham U21.

Osong came through Nottingham’s youth system and progressed to the club’s under-21 side in July 2023. He subsequently gained senior experience through loan spells with Rotherham, Cambridge United, Motherwell and Fleetwood.

During the 2025-26 campaign, Osong first joined Motherwell on loan in August before returning to Nottingham U21 in January. He moved to Fleetwood on another temporary deal the following month and remained there until the end of the season.

His career record includes 15 League Two appearances and two goals, alongside eight appearances in Scotland’s Premiership and eight in League One. He has also featured in the EFL Trophy, EFL Cup and League Cup.

Osong’s most productive form came in youth football. He scored 18 goals in 34 U18 Premier League appearances and added seven goals in 30 Premier League 2 matches. He also netted seven times in seven FA Youth Cup games, while recording three goals in four PL2 play-off appearances.

The right-footed striker was born in London and is eligible to represent both England and Cameroon. His arrival gives Inverness another centre-forward option as the club strengthens its squad for the 2026-27 season.

Osong’s contract with Inverness CT is in place until June 2027.
