Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis are reportedly on the verge of securing a deal for Elyas Bouzaiene.
The potential transfer is expected to strengthen Espérance’s squad ahead of the winter transfer window.
Bouzaiene, a right-back capable of playing as a right midfielder, brings tactical flexibility to the team.
Born in Sweden to a Tunisian father and Finnish mother, the 24-year-old remains eligible to represent Tunisia on the international stage, adding further intrigue to his signing.
Reports gathered indicate that the clubs and the player have reached an agreement, with the transfer set to be finalised in January.
Bouzaiene is under contract with Västerås SK until December 2025 and is valued at €350,000 on Transfermarkt. This season, he has made 26 appearances across all competitions, contributing three assists and clocking 1,617 minutes of playing time.
The addition of Bouzaiene could lead to tactical adjustments within Espérance’s defense. Right-back Raed Bouchniba may transition to a central defensive role to cover for captain Yassine Meriah, who is sidelined with a long-term cruciate ligament injury.
Bouzaiene’s move to Espérance represents not only a key reinforcement for the Tunisian club but also a step closer to potentially representing Tunisia on the international stage, further cementing his ties to his Tunisian heritage.
The official announcement is anticipated in the coming weeks.
