The National Appeals Commission is set to rule this Friday on Etoile Sportive du Sahel’s (ES Sahel) appeal regarding the eligibility of EGS Gafsa’s Alkhaly Bangoura.
The Tunisian club contests the Guinean player’s participation in their Ligue 1 clash on matchday 13, claiming he was fielded without a valid contract.
Appeal challenges LNFP decision
ES Sahel lodged its appeal with the National Appeals Commission, disputing the earlier ruling by the National Professional Football League (LNFP).
The club argues that Bangoura’s involvement in the match was unlawful and seeks a reversal of the initial decision.
The commission is scheduled to deliver its verdict at 14:00 GMT on Friday, a ruling that could have significant implications for both teams in the Tunisian top flight.
Thursday deadline for additional appeals
As of Wednesday, ES Sahel remained the only club to formally challenge the LNFP’s decision.
However, the National Appeals Commission has granted clubs until Thursday to submit further appeals related to the case.
Should any additional clubs request an adjournment, the commission has set Tuesday, April 8, as the new decision date.
Awaiting a crucial ruling
The outcome of this appeal could potentially affect ES Sahel’s season, as they look to enforce league regulations regarding player eligibility.
A ruling in their favor may lead to disciplinary action against EGS Gafsa, while a rejection of their appeal would see the original verdict upheld.
With the final decision imminent, both clubs now await the commission’s ruling, which will bring clarity to the long-running dispute.
