Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ES Sahel) and Club Athlétique Bizertin (CA Bizertin) have been slapped with stern penalties following misconduct during the 10th round of Tunisia’s Ligue 1.
The National Professional Football League (LNFP) announced Tuesday that both clubs will play one match behind closed doors and pay fines of 10,000 Tunisian dinars (approximately $3,173).
The sanctions stem from repeated instances of supporters hurling projectiles and igniting smoke bombs, causing disruptions during matches. This marks a continuation of disciplinary action against the two sides, highlighting persistent challenges with fan behavior.
The LNFP’s decision underscores its commitment to enforcing league regulations and maintaining order in stadiums. While ES Sahel and CA Bizertin face stricter consequences, Stade Tunisien also received a reprimand and a fine of 1,500 dinars ($476) for their fans’ use of smoke bombs, though none were thrown onto the field.
As Tunisia’s Ligue 1 progresses, the penalties serve as a stark reminder of the league’s intolerance for breaches of conduct.
