ES Mostaganem grabbed an important 2-1 win against Magra on Saturday in the 24th round of the Algerian Ligue 1, keeping their fight for survival alive.
Jamaleddine Ben Amri opened the scoring for Mostaganem in the 24th minute, giving the home side an early advantage. After a tight second half, Amer Bougtaya made sure of the points, netting a late second goal in the 88th minute.
Magra pushed to find a way back and managed a consolation through Hamza Damman deep into stoppage time, scoring in the fifth minute of added time. However, it came too late to change the outcome.
The victory moved ES Mostaganem to 25 points, lifting them to thirteenth in the table. They are ahead of fourteenth-placed Khenchela Union on goal difference and one point clear of Magra, who sit fifteenth and second-bottom.
Mostaganem will next face El Bayadh on 29th April in another crucial match.
Meanwhile, MC Alger stayed on top of the Ligue 1 standings with 45 points from 23 matches after a goalless draw at home against El Bayadh.
