Lyon has confirmed the permanent signing of Ghanaian international Ernest Nuamah from RWD Molenbeek for a fee of €28.5 million.Nuamah spent the previous season on loan at Lyon, making a notable impact with 33 appearances across all competitions and netting three goals. Despite joining RWD Molenbeek in August 2023, he never played for the Belgian side under Yannick Ferrera. His European journey began a year earlier when he moved to Nordsjaelland from the Right to Dream academy.

Lyon’s decision to secure Nuamah on a permanent basis follows their sister club RWD Molenbeek’s relegation to the Challenger Pro League, prompting them to activate the release clause in his contract.

The 20-year-old forward has now signed a four-year contract with Lyon, extending his stay at Parc Olympique Lyonnais until June 30, 2028.

“Olympique Lyonnais announces the definitive acquisition of Ghanaian international striker Ernest Nuamah, from RWDM, for a period of four years, until June 30, 2028.

The transfer amount is €28.5 million,” the seven-time French champions stated on their official website.

Nuamah’s performances for Lyon last season convinced the club to make his move permanent. His versatility and attacking prowess have been instrumental for Lyon, and they see him as a valuable asset for the future.

The young striker’s ability to adapt quickly to the demands of Ligue 1 has earned him praise from both fans and management.

Internationally, Nuamah was part of the Black Stars squad that participated in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, although they did not advance beyond the group stages.

He recently played in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Mali, scoring in a 2-1 victory for Ghana, underlining his potential and importance to the national team.

Nuamah’s journey from the Right to Dream academy to one of France’s most storied clubs is a testament to his talent and determination.

His progression has been swift, and Lyon’s confidence in his abilities is reflected in the significant investment they have made in securing his services.

As Lyon prepares for the upcoming season, Nuamah’s presence will be crucial in their quest for domestic and European success.

The club’s supporters will be eager to see how he continues to develop and contribute to their ambitions.

With his pace, skill, and eye for goal, Nuamah is poised to become a key player for Lyon in the years to come.

In conclusion, Ernest Nuamah’s permanent transfer to Lyon marks a significant milestone in his career.

The young Ghanaian forward’s talent and potential have earned him a place at one of France’s top clubs, and he will be looking to repay their faith with performances that can drive Lyon to new heights.
