Eric Gerets, the former coach of Morocco, revealed that he was close to signing with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) about a year ago. The opportunity arose before Carlo Ancelotti took over from Antoine Kombouaré during the winter break. However, Gerets declined the offer, citing his preference for working with Marseille in France. He expressed a similar sentiment to the situation in Belgium, where he sees himself working primarily with Standard Liège. Ultimately, Gerets decided to take up coaching responsibilities with Lekhwiya in Qatar, accepting a proposal that extended until 2015. The decision to decline PSG and opt for Lekhwiya allowed him to breathe and take some time off until January.
