Eric Bocoum: Gabon attacking midfielder leaves Gol Gohar and becomes free agent

Gabon attacking midfielder Eric Bocoum has left Iranian side Gol Gohar and is now without a club after his contract with the Persian Gulf League outfit came to an end.

The 27-year-old departs the Sirjan-based club as a free agent, opening the way for him to negotiate a move to a new side outside the constraints of the transfer window. His next club will be able to sign him without paying a transfer fee, although any deal will still be subject to standard registration rules in the respective league.

Bocoum had been on the books at Gol Gohar in Iran’s top flight, operating primarily in an attacking midfield role. His ability to play between the lines and link midfield with attack saw him used in advanced central areas during his time in the Persian Gulf League.

The Gabonese player, whose current market value is estimated at around €225,000, will now look for the next step in his career after his spell in Iran. At 27, he is viewed as entering what is traditionally considered a player’s peak years, which may appeal to clubs seeking an experienced option in the final third without the cost of a transfer fee.

Bocoum’s status as a free agent is effective immediately following his departure from Gol Gohar.
