Eric Abidal expressed his desire to return to Barcelona after his stint with Monaco. The French international defender, who joined Monaco last summer following his departure from Barcelona due to illness, feels grateful for the support he received from his former club during his difficult times. Abidal, who made his comeback against Reims in the championship last weekend, hopes to have the chance to thank the Catalan public for their unwavering support.
“Now I enjoy life more than before. But my desire is to return to Barcelona. I am proud to be an example for people. My recovery was easier with all their support. I hope to soon have the opportunity to thank all the supporters for their affection,” said the former Olympique Lyonnais player.
Abidal had a successful spell at FC Barcelona from 2007 to 2013.
