Erdogan invites Mohamed Salah to presidential palace, Turkish report says

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has invited Trabzonspor forward Mohamed Salah to a meeting at the presidential palace in Ankara, according to Turkish newspaper 61saat.

The meeting was expected to take place today or tomorrow, but has been postponed because of Erdogan’s scheduled visits to the cities of Rize and Samsun.

The planned meeting was also delayed by Trabzonspor’s away fixture against Konyaspor, which is due to be played at 20:00 on Saturday. The match will feature two Egyptian players, with Salah representing Trabzonspor and Mustafa Mohamed playing for Konyaspor.

A new date for the meeting will be arranged in the coming days, depending on Erdogan’s schedule.

Salah joined Trabzonspor during the summer transfer window after leaving Liverpool. He spent nine seasons with the English club, making 315 appearances, scoring 257 goals and providing 120 assists.

He was presented as a Trabzonspor player at a ceremony on Thursday evening, with a large crowd of supporters attending at the club’s stadium.

The invitation from Erdogan comes as Salah begins a new chapter in Turkey following his departure from Liverpool. His arrival at Trabzonspor has attracted significant attention from the club’s supporters, who filled the stadium for his unveiling.

The match against Konyaspor will provide Salah with a meeting against fellow Egyptian Mustafa Mohamed. Mohamed joined Konyaspor from French club Nantes.

According to 61saat, the presidential meeting had initially been scheduled for the immediate future, but the combination of Erdogan’s travel commitments and Trabzonspor’s match preparations led to the postponement.

The revised date will be confirmed once the president’s diary and the club’s commitments have been reviewed.
