Enzo Tchato closes in on Frosinone move as Nigeria defender Israel Nwachukwu joins Moroccan club

Africafoot’s 25 August 2026 news update is led by two moves involving young African defenders. Cameroon right-back Enzo Tchato is close to leaving Montpellier for Frosinone in Serie A, while former Nigeria Under-17 centre-back Israel Usulor Nwachukwu has completed a move to Moroccan top-flight club Difaa Hassani El Jadidi.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Frosinone will pay Montpellier €800,000 for Tchato. The Cameroon international is due to undergo his medical examination in Italy on Tuesday before completing the transfer and signing his new contract.

Tchato is expected to agree a four-year contract with the Italian club, marking a new stage in his career in the Italian top flight. His current deal with Montpellier is due to expire on 30 June 2027, while his estimated market value stands at €2.5m.

The proposed move would take the right-back away from France after his spell with Montpellier. Frosinone have moved ahead in the race for his signature, although Blackburn Rovers had also shown an interest in the defender.

The Championship club’s interest was revealed exclusively by Africafoot. Tchato currently earns an annual salary of €120,000 at Montpellier, equivalent to 78,000,000 CFA francs.

His medical in Italy is the next formal step in the transfer process. If it is completed successfully, Tchato will then be able to finalise his move to Frosinone and begin preparations for his first season with the Serie A side.

Elsewhere, 19-year-old Nigeria defender Israel Usulor Nwachukwu has joined Difaa Hassani El Jadidi, according to Sportblitz.

Nwachukwu previously represented Nigeria at Under-17 level as a central defender. He arrives at the Moroccan club from Al Jabalin in Saudi Arabia, where he played for the youth team last season.

The move gives Nwachukwu the opportunity to continue his development in North Africa after his time in Saudi Arabia. He now begins a new chapter with Difaa Hassani El Jadidi, who compete in Morocco’s top division.

Africafoot’s live African football news feed covers transfer rumours, completed deals, records and other developments involving African players. The latest update therefore includes both Tchato’s impending switch from Montpellier to Italy and Nwachukwu’s completed move from Al Jabalin to Morocco.
