Enzo Millot stands firm as Al-Ahli transfer plans face resistance

Enzo Millot is currently refusing to leave Al-Ahli for newly promoted Diriyah, despite the two clubs reaching an agreement over a proposed loan move, according to reports in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Ahli are keen for the French midfielder to depart during the ongoing summer transfer window, following a request from the club’s manager and sporting administration. However, Millot remains determined to stay with Al-Ahli for the coming season.

The situation was reported by Saudi newspaper Al Yaum, which cited sources close to Al-Ahli as saying: “Enzo Millot currently rejects the idea of leaving the team and moving to Diriyah, as the player insists on staying with the team during the next season officially.”

The report suggests the player’s position is now delaying Al-Ahli’s plans for the remainder of the transfer window. The club are looking to strengthen their squad with several new arrivals before the summer market closes, as they prepare for the new campaign.

According to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah, Diriyah and Al-Ahli have already reached an agreement for Millot to join the newly promoted Roshn Saudi League side on loan until the end of the upcoming season.

That agreement, however, has not resulted in a completed transfer because Millot does not currently want to leave Al-Ahli. His decision means the proposed move remains dependent on the player agreeing to the switch.

Millot joined Al-Ahli at the beginning of last season from German club Stuttgart. His arrival was strongly supported by manager Matthias Jaissle, who regarded the Frenchman as an important addition to the team’s midfield.

Jaissle believed Millot could contribute significantly to Al-Ahli’s central areas while also helping him implement his tactical ideas on the pitch. The player’s continued presence was therefore viewed as part of the squad plans when he arrived at the club.

Al-Ahli’s management are now seeking his departure despite that previous backing, with a loan move to Diriyah apparently preferred by the club. Diriyah, who have recently been promoted to the Roshn Saudi League, are attempting to complete the move after agreeing terms with Al-Ahli.

Millot’s refusal has created an obstacle for the deal and left Al-Ahli needing to resolve the situation before making further progress with their recruitment plans. The club remain focused on adding more players before the transfer window closes, but their efforts are currently complicated by the midfielder’s desire to remain in the squad.

No final move has been confirmed, and Millot’s stance means he is, for now, still an Al-Ahli player ahead of the new season.
