Entire Lobi Stars board sacked with immediate effect

The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, has dissolved the board and management of Lobi Stars Football Club with immediate effect.

The announcement, made in Makurdi on Thursday through a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, confirmed that the decision affects the board chaired by Dr. Philip Nongu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Creativity.

According to the statement, “The dissolution is with immediate effect.”

Governor Alia explained that the move is intended to restructure the club for improved efficiency, transparency, and enhanced performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League and other competitions.

“The decision is aimed at repositioning the club for greater efficiency, accountability, and better performance in both the Nigeria Premier Football League and other competitions,” the statement said.

He further directed all members of the outgoing board and management to hand over all official documents, assets, and responsibilities to the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Creativity without delay.

The governor expressed gratitude to the outgoing board for their service, assuring that a new management team will soon be unveiled to lead the next chapter in Lobi Stars’ development and competitiveness.

Governor Alia also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sports development as a key driver of youth empowerment, talent development, and social cohesion in Benue State.
