A return to Italy is increasingly shaping up as the most likely outcome for Caleb Okoli, with the defender expected to leave Leicester City following their relegation to League One, according to reports.

Leicester’s drop down the English football pyramid has triggered a wave of uncertainty around several first-team players, and Okoli is among those now weighing up his next step.

The centre-back of Nigerian heritage, who joined the Foxes with long-term ambitions in English football, is understood to be open to a swift return to Serie A this summer.

Interest in the 23-year-old has already begun to build in Italy, where several clubs are monitoring his situation closely. Among the most proactive is Torino, who are believed to be tracking developments ahead of a potential move.

Bologna FC 1909 have gone a step further, making what sources describe as the most concrete approach so far in an attempt to secure his signature.

Meanwhile, AC Milan are also said to have registered interest, albeit in a more reserved and exploratory manner as they assess defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

Despite having a contract that runs until 2030, Okoli is not expected to encounter resistance from Leicester should he push for a departure.

The player’s camp reportedly believes the club would be open to facilitating a transfer, particularly given the financial and squad restructuring pressures that typically follow relegation.

Okoli, a former Italy Under-21 international, is thought to be keen on a return to familiar surroundings in Serie A, where he developed much of his early reputation. The prospect of regular top-flight football in Italy is viewed as a key factor influencing his decision-making process.
