England international of Nigeria descent Dele Alli is seriously considering retirement from professional football amid persistent injuries.
Since departing Tottenham Hotspur in January 2022, the 29-year-old midfielder has struggled to regain his form after spells in Turkey and Italy.
Alli, who is currently in the books of Serie A outfit Como is contemplating a radical step, having increasingly grown frustrated with injuries.
According to reports, the 29-year-old midfielder is not part of Cesc Fàbregas’ plans for the new season at Como, as he trains separately from the main squad.
The last major blow to his career came in March, when he was sent off just nine minutes into his long-awaited Serie A debut against AC Milan at San Siro. It was his first official appearance in over two years. The dismissal infuriated Fabregas and marked a turning point in Alli’s Italian chapter.
He joined Como during the January transfer window and has since struggled to establish himself as key cog to the team. His current with the Serie A club is expected to elapse in June 2026.
Alli has 37 appearances for the England national team, scoring two goals across the period.
