Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has suggested that English defender Marc Guehi will remain at the club until the end of the season.

Guehi, who was born in Abidjan, has attracted interest from Liverpool and Manchester City as both clubs monitor his contract situation. The 24-year-old’s deal with Palace expires at the season’s conclusion.

Liverpool had previously attempted to sign Guehi, with the player undergoing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

However, Eagles chairman Steve Parish halted the transfer, leaving the deal unfinished. Glasner remains confident that Guehi will continue contributing to Palace this season. “I think Marc will stay until the end of the season,” he said.

The defender’s potential move comes as Liverpool face defensive challenges. Giovanni Leoni is out for the season following ACL surgery, and Joe Gomez continues to struggle with injuries.

Meanwhile, City are preparing for the eventual exit of John Stones, who is in the final year of his contract.

The summer transfer window is likely to feature a competitive race for Guehi, with both Merseyside and Manchester clubs vying for his signature.

Guehi’s versatility and composure at the back make him a coveted target, while Palace’s retention of the defender until season’s end could prove pivotal in maintaining stability at Selhurst Park.
