England midfielder of Ghanaian descent, Kobbie Mainoo, could be on his way out of Manchester United before the summer transfer window closes.

Reports within the last 12 hours suggest the highly-rated youngster is pushing for a loan move in search of regular playing time.

His situation follows United manager Ruben Amorim’s revelation that Mainoo is competing directly with captain Bruno Fernandes for a spot in midfield.

It is a battle that leaves little room for the youngster, given Fernandes’ influence and status as arguably the club’s best player.

Despite his deep affection for Manchester United and long-term ambitions at Old Trafford, Mainoo believes consistent first-team football is vital at this stage of his career.

He is also determined to maintain form and visibility to remain in contention for England manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Although Manchester United initially rejected his request for a loan, Mainoo remains insistent on leaving before the window shuts.

With this summer’s Premier League and EFL transfer deadline set earlier than usual to 7 pm on Monday, September 1, all eyes are on whether the midfielder will secure his move in time.
