English-Ghanaian defender Jarell Quansah agrees personal terms with Bayer Leverkusen ahead of proposed move

England-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Jarell Quansah, has agreed terms with Bayer Leverkusen ahead of his proposed move to the German club.

Quansah has emerged as a key target for Leverkusen as they look to reinforce their defence following the departure of Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich.

Leverkusen must now reach an agreement with Liverpool for the deal to be finalised.

Quansah, 22, is currently representing England’s Under-21s at the European Championship in Slovakia.

A product of Liverpool’s academy, Quansah enjoyed a breakthrough campaign after his debut in August 2023.

He made 25 appearances in all competitions last season, partnering Virgil van Dijk at times, although his Premier League starts were limited to five.

Should the deal be completed, it would become Leverkusen’s record transfer, surpassing the €32 million paid for Kerem Demirbay in 2019.

Quansah’s potential exit comes amid Liverpool’s ongoing transfer activity with Leverkusen.

The English side are closing in on Florian Wirtz, while Jeremie Frimpong has already joined after his release clause was triggered.

Despite rejecting interest from Newcastle United last summer, Liverpool now appears willing to part ways with the promising defender, who has been capped 11 times at U21 level but is yet to make a senior international appearance.
