Andros Townsend’s hopes of participating in the upcoming World Cup with England have been dashed due to an injury to his left ankle. The Tottenham midfielder is expected to be sidelined for approximately 10 weeks following confirmation from his club.
“Andros will undergo surgery on Thursday after examination revealed the affected ligaments during the match against Stoke City last Saturday,” stated the team representing Emmanuel Adebayor.
Townsend, who played a part in England’s Brazilian World Cup qualifying campaign, will now miss out on the prestigious global football event.
