Emmanuel Prince Obinna: Nigerian teenager joins FC Van on free transfer from Ararat Yerevan

FC Van have added Nigerian winger Emmanuel Prince Obinna to their squad after the 18-year-old completed a free transfer from Armenian Premier League rivals Ararat Yerevan. The right midfielder moves within Armenia’s top flight after his contract with Ararat came to an end.

Obinna, who primarily operates on the right side of midfield, joined FC Van with an estimated market value of around €100,000, underlining the club’s decision to invest in a young player already acclimatised to the division. He links up with his new team shortly before the start of the 2026–27 campaign.

The teenager made his first steps in Armenian football earlier in 2026, when he left Nigerian side GB Owerri to sign for Ararat Yerevan. During his time in Yerevan, he gained his initial experience of European league football, featuring in both the Armenian Premier League and the national cup.

Obinna registered seven league appearances for Ararat, scoring once and providing one assist, and also played in two matches in the Armenian Independence Cup. All of his competitive minutes so far have come in Armenia, offering FC Van a player already familiar with the tempo and demands of the competition.

Born on 29 August 2007, Obinna becomes one of the youngest senior additions to FC Van’s squad, arriving without a publicly announced contract end date. His move from Ararat Yerevan to FC Van is a completed free transfer ahead of the 2026–27 season.
