Emmanuel Iyoha: German-Nigerian winger joins 1.FC Magdeburg on free transfer from Fortuna Dusseldorf
German-Nigerian winger Emmanuel Iyoha has joined 1.FC Magdeburg on a free transfer from Fortuna Dusseldorf, strengthening the 2. Bundesliga side’s attacking options on the flank. The 28-year-old right winger arrives after leaving Dusseldorf at the end of his spell with the club and will link up with his new team ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Iyoha, who stands at 1.93m and is comfortable using both feet, drops into a division where he is already well established. He has made more than 200 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga, scoring 20 goals and providing 15 assists, underlining his experience at that level. His move also sees him step up a tier from Dusseldorf’s current status in the 3. Liga to a club competing in the second tier.
Born in Dusseldorf and eligible for both Germany and Nigeria, Iyoha came through the youth ranks in his home city after an early spell with Bayer Leverkusen’s academy. He progressed from Fortuna Dusseldorf’s youth teams to the senior side in 2016 and went on to gain further experience with loan stints at VfL Osnabruck, Erzgebirge Aue and Holstein Kiel, all in the German league system.
Across league and cup competitions, Iyoha has clocked more than 12,000 minutes on the pitch in the 2. Bundesliga alone, adding further games in the 3. Liga and DFB-Pokal. His career has been marked by steady contributions in goals and assists as well as versatility across the forward line.
Iyoha’s transfer to 1.FC Magdeburg, completed on 16 July 2026, is a permanent free move following the end of his time at Fortuna Dusseldorf.
