Liberia forward Emmanuel Gono has joined IK Oddevold on loan from AIK for the duration of the 2026 Superettan season.

The move has been confirmed by AIK as part of a strategy aimed at helping the striker gain regular playing time and rebuild confidence after a challenging spell at the club.

Since his arrival in 2024, Gono has struggled to secure a place in the team, making just three official appearances.

His limited involvement has prevented him from establishing himself within AIK’s attacking options, and a previous loan spell in Finland did not deliver the expected progress.

The switch to IK Oddevold now offers a renewed opportunity in Sweden’s second tier.

For AIK, the decision is rooted in long-term development. Allowing Gono to compete consistently in a less pressured environment is seen as a way to accelerate his growth and prepare him for future demands at the highest level.

The 2026 campaign is therefore expected to play a key role in shaping the next phase of his career.

With more opportunities to feature regularly, the striker will aim to rediscover form and demonstrate his potential.

Despite the temporary move, Gono remains tied to AIK on a long-term contract running until 2029.

This underlines the club’s continued belief in his abilities, even as they seek to provide him with the conditions needed to improve.

IK Oddevold, competing in the Superettan, will offer Gono the platform to gain valuable experience in a competitive setting.

The expectation is that consistent minutes on the pitch will allow him to develop further and return to AIK better equipped to challenge for a place.

As the season unfolds, attention will be on how effectively the Liberian forward can use this opportunity to reignite his progress and establish himself as a more influential presence in front of goal.
