Emmanuel Garuba: Nigerian striker joins FK Khujand on loan from FK FAP Priboj

Nigerian centre-forward Emmanuel Garuba has joined Tajikistan top-flight side FK Khujand on loan from Serbian club FK FAP Priboj. The 20-year-old moves to the Vysshaya Liga outfit for the 2026-27 season, adding a new attacking option to the Khujand squad.

Garuba’s switch was completed on 24 July 2026, with the deal confirmed as a loan transfer. His contract with FK Khujand runs until 31 December 2026, after which he is scheduled to return to FK FAP Priboj at the end of the loan.

Born in Ijebu Ode on 11 April 2006, Garuba operates primarily as a centre-forward and has built his early career in Europe after leaving Nigeria. He progressed through the youth ranks at FAP U19 in Serbia, earning a move to FK FAP Priboj in 2025 as he stepped up to senior football.

Before his time in Serbia, Garuba played for Nigerian side Ladegbuwa, making the move abroad in October 2024 on a free transfer to join FAP’s youth set-up. His rapid progression from youth level to first-team football has now led to a first spell in Central Asia.

FK Khujand compete in the Tajikistan Vysshaya Liga and Garuba’s arrival further strengthens their options in attack for the remainder of the calendar year. The Nigerian forward’s loan is scheduled to conclude at the end of December, when he will return to FK FAP Priboj following the completion of his stint in Tajikistan.
