Nigerian defender Emmanuel Fernandez draws interest from Europe’s elite
Emmanuel Fernandez has emerged as one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe following an impressive season with Rangers FC.
The 24-year-old centre-back, who joined the Scottish side last summer, has quickly established himself as a fan favourite thanks to a series of commanding performances.
His impact has not gone unnoticed, with several leading European clubs now monitoring his progress closely.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, interest in Fernandez is growing rapidly, with teams from across Europe tracking his development.
In Germany, both Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are reported to be following the defender. Meanwhile, Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea are also said to be keeping a close watch.
Interest extends beyond England and Germany, with Dutch clubs Ajax and Feyenoord also linked with the Nigerian international.
The growing list of admirers highlights the extent to which Fernandez has impressed during his first campaign at Rangers.
Despite the mounting attention, Fernandez remains under contract at Rangers until June 30, 2029, with an option for a further year included in the agreement. This long-term deal places the Scottish club in a strong position as speculation over his future continues to build.
The defender’s performances this season underline his rising reputation. He has made 28 appearances across all competitions, contributing six goals while accumulating 2,355 minutes on the pitch.
His ability to combine defensive solidity with attacking threat has added to his appeal among Europe’s top sides.
Valued at €9 million, Fernandez’s stock continues to rise as interest intensifies. While no move has been confirmed, his rapid development since arriving in Scotland suggests that he could soon face a significant decision regarding the next step in his career.
