West Ham target Emmanuel Emenike as injury cover
Fenerbahçe forward Emmanuel Emenike could be set for a move to the Premier League, with West Ham keen to bring in the Nigerian striker before the end of the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old, currently on loan at UAE side Al-Ain, has emerged as a prime target for the Hammers, according to the *London Evening Standard*. West Ham are short of options in attack, with Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll both sidelined through injury.
Club co-chairman David Sullivan has admitted that the club are actively seeking reinforcements up front, and Emenike has already agreed personal terms. The east London side are reported to be willing to pay around €7m for a six-month deal.
The main obstacle remains Emenike’s parent club Fenerbahçe, with negotiations ongoing to secure their approval for the deal. West Ham will need to strike an agreement with the Turkish giants to complete the transfer.
Emenike, who has previously played in Russia with Spartak Moscow, has struggled to fully establish himself at Fenerbahçe since joining in 2013, but his power and experience make him an appealing option for Slaven Bilić’s side.
With just days remaining in the winter transfer window, West Ham are hopeful of finalising the move quickly to bolster their attacking ranks as they push for European qualification.
