Nations FC claimed a crucial 1-0 victory over Karela United on Monday to close out Matchday 26 of the Ghana Premier League, moving the club into third place on the league table.
Emmanuel Annor delivered the decisive moment in the 25th minute, converting the only goal of the match to secure all three points for Nations FC.
The win was made even more significant by Heart of Lions’ draw against Asante Kotoko, which allowed Nations to leapfrog them in the standings.
With 42 points, Nations FC now trail league leaders Asante Kotoko by four points.
The race for the title remains tightly contested, as only a few points separate the top five clubs.
Heart of Lions sit just one point behind Nations FC in fourth, while Hearts of Oak, who edged Medeama SC 1-0 in another fixture, are just two points further back in fifth.
For Karela United, the defeat adds to their worries near the bottom of the table.
With just 25 points, they sit 15th — only two points above the relegation zone — and must find form quickly if they are to avoid a drop to the second tier.
