London – Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink is seeking to strengthen his attacking options during the winter transfer window, despite already possessing a wealth of attacking talent.
The Dutch coach, who replaced José Mourinho earlier this season, has at his disposal central forwards Diego Costa and Loïc Rémy, alongside a creative midfield featuring Eden Hazard, Willian, Pedro, and Oscar. Yet Hiddink is reportedly keen to add further firepower to the squad.
Chelsea have explored several options, including Leicester City’s breakthrough star Jamie Vardy, who has reportedly opted to remain with his club, and Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez, a prospect that is also expected to be a challenging acquisition.
According to The Times, the Blues have identified Emmanuel Adebayor as a potential alternative. The former Tottenham and Real Madrid striker is currently training independently with his fitness coach and is available on a free transfer following the termination of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur. Adebayor is also attracting interest from other Premier League clubs, including Watford and Leicester City.
Hiddink’s efforts reflect his desire to ensure Chelsea maintain a potent attack in the second half of the season, particularly as the club competes across domestic and European competitions.
