Emmanuel Adebayor calls for unity as Togo begin 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying

Emmanuel Adebayor has urged Togo to stand together as the team prepares to begin its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Burundi on Friday, 25 September.

The former Togo captain visited the national squad two days before the match at Stade de Kegue, meeting the players and offering his support ahead of their opening fixture.

The team, managed by Patrice Neveu, is now complete and continuing its final preparations for the first round of the qualifiers.

Adebayor later shared a message on social media in which he explained the purpose of his visit and called on the country to back the national team.

“Today, I simply came to support the players, give them strength and remind them that all of Togo is behind them,” he wrote.

“On Friday against Burundi, a new stage awaits us on the road to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Let us remain united, believe in this team and push it forward together. I hope this will be the beginning of a new chapter for Togolese football. All together for Togo.”

The message placed the former Togo striker in a unifying role, with emphasis on togetherness around the national side and the importance of supporters accompanying the team during another qualifying campaign.

Togo will host Burundi at Stade de Kegue on Friday before travelling to Zambia on 29 September for their second fixture.
