Forson Amankwah, a rising star from Red Bull Salzburg, has expressed his elation at being pre-selected by Ghana’s coach, Chris Hughton, for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AF) in Ivory Coast. The young striker, making his debut in the international arena, aspires to realize his dream of representing his homeland on the grand stage.
Amankwah, who has never been part of Ghana’s youth teams, considers his pre-selection a source of immense pride. In an interview, the talented forward shared his enthusiasm for the prospect of playing for his country, emphasizing the significance of the honor.
“It’s my dream to play for my country. So seeing my name in the provisional squad made me proud because there were so many players around,” said Amankwah.
The prospect of wearing the national colors is not only a personal ambition for the young athlete but also a heartfelt wish for his family.
Amankwah revealed that his parents and relatives earnestly desire to witness him don the Ghanaian jersey.
“My mother, father, and family want me to make the team and then play for Ghana,” he expressed. Being part of the Ghanaian selection would indeed be the fulfillment of this collective dream.
“If I make the final team, I will be so happy because I dream of it,” added the determined player.
Amankwah’s noteworthy performances at Red Bull Salzburg have evidently contributed to his selection, having scored four goals and provided two assists across various competitions this season.
His impactful contributions have solidified his role within Salzburg’s squad, catching the attention of Coach Hughton, who included him in the pre-list of 55 Black Stars for the upcoming AFCON.
As Amankwah sets his sights on a potential debut in the final squad, Ghanaian football enthusiasts eagerly anticipate witnessing the emergence of a promising talent on the international stage.
