Emam Ashour’s return carefully managed by Al Ahly doctors
Al Ahly are taking no chances with midfielder Emam Ashour as the club’s medical team has urged patience over his return to competitive action.
The striker has been working his way back from a collarbone fracture, and though he is back in group training, the doctors believe more time is needed before he can start games.
An Al Ahly source told Kooora that Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, the team’s doctor, spoke with football director Walid Salah El-Din and asked him to convince interim coach Emad El-Nahhas not to rush Ashour into the starting lineup.
“Emam has actually participated in group training, but without any contact so far, so he needs more time to be able to be a regular starter.”
The source explained that Ashour will begin full training today. If selected for Sunday’s league game against Enppi, he will only be on the bench. He stressed that the staff are following gradual steps with Ashour since this is his second collarbone fracture.
