Emam Ashour fired another warning to his rivals with a sharp finish in Al Ahly’s thumping 6-0 win over Pharco, strengthening his lead in the Egyptian Premier League scoring chart.
The midfielder now has 13 goals, one ahead of National Bank’s Osama Faisal.
Ashour’s performance underlines his vital role in Al Ahly’s attack. He has now scored a quarter of the team’s 52 league goals this season, proving to be their biggest weapon in front of goal. His nearest teammate, Wissam Abou Ali, has netted 10 times, while Hussein El Shahat and Nejc Gradishar have five each.
Zamalek’s Naser Mansi remains a contender with 11 goals and could make things interesting when his side faces Pharco on Saturday.
Al Ahly’s dominance has been a squad effort, with 33 players featuring in their title-winning campaign. El Shahat leads with 24 appearances, while Ashour and Marwan Attia follow closely with 23 each. Rami Rabia rounds out the top four with 20 matches.
Ashour’s form shows no sign of slowing, and with the title secured, the golden boot may be next.
