Emam Ashour linked with Columbus move from Al Ahly

Egyptian midfielder Emam Ashour is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with a move from Al Ahly to Columbus in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Ashour, 28, plays in central midfield and has been an Al Ahly player since joining from Danish club Midtjylland in July 2023. He signed for a reported €2.68m and remains under contract with the Egyptian side until 30 June 2028.

The midfielder has made five appearances for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, starting each of those matches and scoring twice. He played 76% of the available minutes during the tournament.

Ashour has won the CAF Champions League with Al Ahly, as well as the Egyptian league in both 2023-24 and 2024-25. He was also the Egyptian Premier League’s leading scorer in 2024-25, with 13 goals.

His club record includes 40 CAF Champions League appearances, with five goals and six assists, alongside 157 Premier League appearances and 36 goals. He joined Al Ahly after a brief spell with Midtjylland, having previously played for Zamalek in Egypt.

The rumour places Columbus as the MLS club linked with a potential move for the Egypt international, whose current Al Ahly contract runs through June 2028.
