Emam Ashour in heated dispute with cafe workers in Cairo
Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour found himself at the center of an unexpected scene in Cairo’s First Settlement district after a visit to a well-known café turned sour.
Ashour was enjoying time with a friend when some cafe workers asked for a souvenir photo. The player declined to pose with a few of them, and what started as a lighthearted request quickly escalated.
The mood shifted when one worker reacted angrily and went as far as praying that Ashour would suffer a cruciate ligament injury. The comment sparked a heated verbal exchange that soon turned physical, drawing in other workers.
Police were called to the cafe, arriving swiftly to restore order. Two workers who were involved in the clash with Ashour were taken into custody for questioning.
The incident comes only months after Ashour endured a serious setback when he fractured his collarbone in Al Ahly’s clash against Inter Miami on June 14, during the opening game of the Club World Cup.
The midfielder has since been working on his recovery and continues to be a central figure for Al Ahly.
