Emam Ashour: Egypt midfielder linked with surprise Konyaspor move from Al Ahly

Egypt international Emam Ashour, currently at Al Ahly, is being linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor in what would be his second spell in European football.

The 28-year-old central midfielder is under contract with the Cairo giants until June 2028, meaning Al Ahly are in a strong position to negotiate and are unlikely to entertain offers below his current valuation of around €5m. There is no indication that a deal is close, but Konyaspor are understood to be monitoring his situation as they look to add experience and goals from midfield.

Ashour rejoined Egyptian football in July 2023 when Al Ahly paid a fee in the region of €2.68m to sign him from Midtjylland. Since returning, he has become a key figure for the club and was part of the side that won the CAF Champions League in the 2023-24 season.

For Al Ahly and in previous spells in the Egyptian Premier League, Ashour has built a reputation as a central midfielder with end product, scoring 36 goals and providing 25 assists across 157 league appearances. His performances for club and country have maintained his market value at a career-high €5m following a standout period.

On the international stage, Ashour has recently enhanced his profile with Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, starting every match and scoring twice in five appearances. With three years still remaining on his Al Ahly deal, any move to Konyaspor would require a substantial offer to tempt the Egyptian champions into talks.
