Al Ahly’s management has decided that midfielder Emam Ashour will not take part in Friday’s team training, as the club begins enforcing disciplinary measures handed down to the player.
Instead, Ashour will start an individual training program from Saturday, in full coordination with director of football Walid Salah El-Din as part of the agreed internal sanctions.
The decision comes after the Egyptian international failed to travel with Al Ahly’s squad to Tanzania for their CAF Champions League clash against Young Africans, a move that sparked wide controversy among fans and media.
Ashour informed the club’s administrative staff that he would miss Friday’s session for reasons he described as “beyond his control,” while affirming his commitment to return and follow the individual program from the next day.
Al Ahly had already announced a two-week suspension for the player, alongside a financial fine of 1.5 million Egyptian pounds. During this period, he will train alone under a tailored schedule, away from the main group, until the punishment ends.
The timing of the disciplinary action means Ashour will be unavailable for key upcoming fixtures, including the Young Africans match in the Champions League group stage.
