Emad Al-Nahhas, coach of Al Ahly, praised his players for their determination after they secured a 2-1 victory against rivals Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League.

The match, played at Cairo Stadium on Monday, lifted the Red Devils to the top of the standings in the ninth round.

“Congratulations to Al-Ahly, its fans, and the team’s players. Everyone has endured a lot recently,” Al-Nahhas said after the final whistle.

The coach highlighted his side’s ability to respond under pressure, adding, “We achieved a convincing victory with a distinguished performance, but Zamalek started well and wasted two close opportunities.”

He avoided commenting on refereeing but admitted the penalty given to his side was similar to one awarded to Zamalek. Al-Nahhas thanked his players for their consistent effort, stressing that this win marks a fresh beginning for the season.

He confirmed Mohamed Sherif’s strong display, explained that striker Nets Gradishar was out injured, and defended his decision to exclude Ahmed Mostafa “Zizo,” clarifying it was to protect the player’s fitness.

Al-Nahhas closed by reminding his players of the equal importance of upcoming matches.
