Ghanaian-French midfielder Elisha Owusu has joined Erzurumspor FK from AJ Auxerre, completing a move to the Turkish club on 19 August 2026.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder moves to Erzurumspor after starting the 2026-27 season with Auxerre. The transfer takes him from France’s Ligue 1 to Turkey’s Super Lig, with no transfer fee disclosed.

Owusu, who was born in Montreuil, France, is eligible to represent both Ghana and France. He stands 1.82m tall and is right-footed, with his primary role coming in defensive midfield.

His move follows a spell of more than three years at Auxerre. Owusu joined the French club from Belgian side KAA Gent in January 2023 for a reported €500,000 and helped Auxerre win the French second-tier title in the 2023-24 season.

During his career, Owusu has made 66 appearances in Ligue 2, scoring once and providing three assists. He has also played 57 times in Ligue 1, where he scored one goal and registered three assists.

Before moving to Auxerre, Owusu spent time with Gent, where he won the Belgian Cup in 2022. He made 77 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League and featured in European competition, including the Europa League and Conference League.

The midfielder developed in France with Lyon, having progressed from the club’s Under-19 side to its reserve team. He also spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at FC Sochaux before returning to Lyon.

Owusu has featured three times at the 2026 World Cup, making appearances in three of his side’s four possible matches. He recorded no goals or assists in those games and was named in the starting XI for half of them.

His career also includes 12 Europa League appearances, 11 in the Conference League and nine in the Belgian Cup. He has accumulated senior experience in France and Belgium before taking up a new challenge in Turkey.

Owusu now begins his Erzurumspor FK career following his completed transfer from AJ Auxerre.
